What this site measures
I want this site to represent me well and to make it easy to get in touch. To see whether it does, I look at how people use it.
What is measured
Google Analytics counts visits. It records which pages are read and for how long, the country and city a visit comes from, the kind of device, and the site or search that led here. It also counts clicks on the booking link, the email address and the phone number, and which Field Notes and questions are opened.
Microsoft Clarity records how each page is scrolled and clicked. I see this as a replay of the page with no name attached, and as a map of where people click. It shows me where people stop reading or get stuck. There are no forms on this site, so nothing you type is recorded.
Both tools use cookies to tell one visit from the next.
What I can and can't see
Neither tool shows me your name, your email address or your IP address. Each visit appears only as a count and an unnamed replay, so nothing I see tells me who you are.
I don't share these figures with anyone. Google and Microsoft run the two tools and handle the data under their own privacy terms. No ads are shown here, and no data is sold.
Google Analytics keeps the detailed record of each visit for two months, then keeps only totals. Clarity deletes its replays after 30 days, unless I save one to look at again, which it keeps for 13 months.
If you get in touch
If you email me or book a call, I keep a short private note of how you found the site and whether we went on to work together. That is how I learn whether the site is doing its job. The note is never published or shared.
How to opt out
Most browsers can block cookies or tracking for any site. Google also offers an opt-out add-on for Google Analytics. The site works the same either way.
